New Year, New Format

It's a new school year, and with it comes a new Showtime schedule. We will now have four different 8-minute episodes. These will be shown to the entire school at the beginning of 4th and 5th periods on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Fridays we will combine all 4 episodes and air them at the end of each class period, just as we have in the past. The Friday show is an optional viewing.

During the summer we were able to upgrade our editors to the latest version of our editing software and also add a few extras.

This should be great year. Stay tuned for more updates.

IASB Competition & Conference

On March 10th the CPHS Showtime staff traveled to the University of Indianapolis to attend the Indiana Association of School Broadcasters (IASB) High School Competition and Conference. Everyone had a great time and learned a lot by attending the different sessions. The staff also placed second in the state in Show Open/Close category.

IASB Competition

All of the students just completed a competition project for the upcoming IASB (Indiana Association of School Broadcasters) competition and conference. They completed tapes in many categories including music video, public service announcement, entertainment and in-depth news story. The students did an outstanding job on their projects and it was very difficult to choose the ones to send in.
The IASB High School Conference and Competition is on Monday, March 10th. More information will be handed out next week.

UthTV Closes Up Shop

We came back from Winter Break and discovered that UthTV shut down. Here is an excerpt from their web site:

"Thank you everyone who has been a part of the Uth TV community for the past three years. Unfortunately we've run out of funding and are closing up shop."

There was no advanced notice that they were shutting down their operation. We are currently examining a few options to stream our content on the web. Keep an eye here and the CPHS Showtime web site for updates.

The Town of Munster and the Center for Visual and Performing Arts will be taking over the Access Channel (Channel 26) playback for most of Lake County. The Center and Comcast are still working some things out, so it will probably be another month until Showtime is back on cable. Stay tuned for more...
